The EMF Beacon is a unique device that uses ambient EMF energy in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands to power its circuitry. No batteries are ever required. It is designed to light when the field levels exceed about 1% of the ICNIRP/IEEE maximum recommended levels. Most areas in your home will not exceed these levels. Also, it will not light from power line emissions because those are at much lower frequencies and drop off very rapidly with distance. One way to see your device working is to hold it near a Wifi router or microwave oven.

A Few Interesting Facts
1. Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) radiate from anything that generates, consumes, or transfers electricity.
2. The WHO/International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classifies non-ionizing radiofrequency electromagnetic fields as possibly carcinogenic, based on an increased risk for glioma, a malignant type of brain cancer.
3. EMF intensity drops off quickly with distance. For every doubling of distance, EMF power drops by a factor of four.
4. Low-frequency EMFs, such as from power lines, require special high-permeability materials to block. Fortunately, low-frequency EMFs are rarely above ICNIRP recommended max levels of 83 micro Tesla.
5. High-frequency EMFs, such as from routers and cell towers, are easy to block with metal barriers but are also able to squeeze through very tiny apertures. Unfortunately, EMFs from high-frequency sources often exceed the ICNIRP recommended max levels of 10 watts per square meter.
6. The most effective method of reducing EMF exposure is usually to put distance between you and the source. To do that, a device like the EMF Beacon that warns of elevated fields is extremely helpful.
